Is this the next
Subaru Legacy? According to corporate sources, the
Subaru Legacy Concept - which will debut at the 2009 Detroit auto show in January - is our first look at the Legacy's next design direction.Granted, this head-on shot is our first look at the Legacy Concept itself, but we're not too surprised by what we see. The concept looks like a logical evolution of the current Legacy form (with perhaps a touch of the Japanese Streega wagon), but the slotted bumper and LED headlamps give the sedan a technological touch. We're looking forward to seeing more details emerge, for Subaru's only hinted at what lies beneath the Legacy Concept's surface. There's no surprise that the car uses Subaru's legendary Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive system, but the release notes that the concept uses a 3.6-liter boxer engine (possibly borrowed from the Tribeca crossover). Presently, the largest engine offered in a Legacy is a 3.0-liter flat-six.Expect more details on the Legacy Concept (and possibly the next-generation sedan) to emerge closer to the Detroit auto show in January 2009.
